About The Anointing

The word “ANOINT” means to pour, spread or rub oil onto something or someone. The oil symbolizes the work of the Holy Spirit. Literally, anointing is about oil. But it is spoken of in different ways in scripture, there is physical anointing (for healing), there was ritual anointing (symbolic acts) that was applied to people, places and objects. People, Prophets, & Priests were anointed for consecration, empowerment & protection.

There is spiritual anointing which speaks of anointing in the life of Christians.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says, it is God who establishes us with you in Christ & has anointed us & who has also put his seal on us and given us his spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

The anointing is a sovereign act of God. God is the source, Jesus Christ is the means & the Holy Spirit is the agent through which believers receive the anointing. The anointing is directly connected to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit” says the Lord. Zechariah 4:6- The Anointing of God is the Holy Spirit.

The purpose of the anointing is to enable God’s people to be his hands & feet on earth. It is through the anointing that God can work on behalf of his people & through them he brings change in the world & achieves success.

Since speaking is such a powerful technique & or tool, we want to choose our words very carefully. We must make sure our words line up exactly with what we want to see in our lives. Let’s speak with authority what God has already said, concerning us.
Powerful Scripture James 5:14- Is anyone among us sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, ANOINTING him with OIL in the name of the Lord.
